Lutnick told reporters overnight the Trump administration would probably announce a deal to reduce levies on Canada and Mexico on Wednesday. “It will not eliminate the tariffs, but it might modify the tariffs somewhat,” Lutnick said.
President Trump’s 25% levies on goods from America’s neighbors took effect Tuesday. Canada responded with plans to impose 25% tariffs on about $100 billion of U.S. imports. Mexico also said it would retaliate, with a range of moves to be announced Sunday.
