Hong Kong’s cruise tourism industry is booming this March with 17 international cruise ships scheduled to visit the city. On 9 March, four ships arrived simultaneously at the city’s two cruise terminals, bringing approximately 5,400 visitors from 31 countries and regions.
The vessels, including Celebrity Millennium (Celebrity Cruises), Costa Serena (Costa Cruises), Silver Whisper (Silversea Cruises), and Seabourn Encore (Seabourn Cruises), docked at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal and Ocean Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Passengers from countries such as China, the US, Australia, the UK, Germany, Canada, the Philippines, Japan, and Singapore, disembarked to visit popular spots like the Peak, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Kowloon City. They also explored the area’s heritage sites, delved into Hong Kong’s cinematic history at the Twilight of the Warriors exhibition at AIRSIDE shopping mall, and toured the Kai Tak Sports Park.
Helen Sleiman, a first-time visitor from the UK, said, “I was impressed by the many high-rise buildings in Hong Kong. Visiting Kowloon City gave me a sense of what the city was like in the past. The egg tarts were delicious, and I look forward to returning to see the Victoria Harbour from the Peak.”
Looking ahead, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has announced that three more international cruise ships will visit the city between 18 and 19 March.
These include the Queen Anne from Cunard Line, Norwegian Sky from Norwegian Cruise Line, and the returning Queen Elizabeth. The Queen Anne will also host its world cruise gala dinner in Hong Kong.
