M4: Drink driver 4 times limit caused multi-vehicle crash

Kyran George, 23, of Rochemont Walk, Hackney, was arrested on September 30, following multiple calls alerting police to his dangerous manner of driving along the motorway.

At approximately 8:15pm, George was driving his BMW 318I on the M4 from London heading towards Bristol without any lights.

He crashed into three vehicles, before hitting a Land Rover, spinning and coming to rest on the verge.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and George was taken to the back of an ambulance to be checked over.

The 23-year-old failed a roadside breath test and was taken to custody, where he was found to be four times over the drink drive limit.

He was charged and appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on Wednesday, October 21, where he pleaded guilty to drink driving.

George was disqualified from driving for two years.

PC Paul Davis, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “Drink driving is a serious offence but driving having consumed four times the legal limit is really disgraceful.

“Putting other innocent lives at serious risk of danger is extremely selfish. There is no place for people like George on our roads and I am pleased he has been given a lengthy driving ban.

“George collided with multiple cars and was so lucky that nobody was injured, or worse, killed as a result of his selfish actions.”

George was ordered to pay a £114 surcharge and £85 in court costs.
