Lucid Motors announced that it has delivered its first vehicles in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), its sixth market globally. Following its expansion into Europe and Saudi Arabia in recent years, Lucid is now beginning customer deliveries in the UAE.
“We celebrated the delivery of the first LucidAir cars in the UAE at a remarkable event that blends luxury and innovation, offering an exceptional experience to electric vehicle enthusiasts,” the company stated in a LinkedIn post.
The Lucid Air sedan starts at AED 309,750 ($84,300) including an AED 3,670 ($1,000) Charging Allowance and two years of complimentary Lucid Care scheduled maintenance, according to the EV maker’s website.
Despite having only one showroom in the UAE, Lucid’s vice-president and managing director of the Middle East region Faisal Sultan said that the company “had many reservations.” Lucid’s expansion plans include a massive service center in Dubai and upcoming sales and service facilities in Abu Dhabi.
Here’s the video shared by the EV maker on social media.
Lucid’s management has not disclosed/guided regional sales figures since May. However, during the first-quarter earnings call seven months ago, CEO Peter Rawlinson revealed that the company had delivered over 500 vehicles in Saudi Arabia, accounting for roughly one-quarter of the total 1,967 deliveries reported for that quarter.
“We’re not planning to guide on the split in the future, but our deliveries in Q1 exceeded 500 units,” Rawlinson said. “I’m very confident that we’ve got equal demand for our products in Saudi, particularly to the SUV, that’s going to be quite an interesting market.”
Globally, the company’s revenue declined by $600,000 sequentially in the July–September period. However, revenue increased by 45% compared to the third quarter of 2023.
In the second quarter of 2024, revenue from Middle East sales accounted for 20.2% of the EV maker’s total revenue. By the third quarter, that percentage had risen to 24.85%.
As reported earlier this Tuesday, Lucid’s Grand Touring variant of the Gravity SUV has received an official EPA-estimated range of 450 miles. Lucid started production of the SUV last week at its plant in Casa Grande, Arizona.
