As the Lunar New Year approaches, welcome a prosperous Year of the Snake with friends and family over Hong Kong’s most delicious dim sum.
Mott 32
One of the world’s most beloved Chinese restaurant brands, Mott 32 continues to impress diners both here and overseas. Our favourites on the dim sum menu include traditional Iberico-pork Shanghainese soup dumplings, flying fish-roe siu mai with spot prawn and Iberico pork, crispy matcha Peking duck bun, Wagyu beef puff, and giant garoupa and ginger steamed rice rolls.
T’ang Court

For a taste of three-Michelin-star Cantonese cuisine, head to the Langham Hong Kong’s T’ang Court, which has held the coveted rating for nine consecutive years. Signature dim sum dishes include pan-fried rice flour rolls with homemade spicy sauce, shrimp and pork dumpling in soup topped with scallop, conpoy and shrimp, and baked pastries filled with fish maw and mushrooms, topped with whole abalone.
Lung King Heen

Lung King Heen is easily one of the hardest restaurants to make a reservation at, especially during Lunar New Year, but if you’re lucky enough to secure a spot this month, make sure to order the steamed lobster dumpling with vegetables and fermented bean sauce, baked whole abalone puff with diced chicken, steamed star garoupa dumpling with shrimp roe, and baked “pineapple” buns with barbecued pork and pine nuts.
Duddell’s

At neighbourhood favourite Duddell’s, master executive chef Chan Yau-Leung has created nine new dim sum dishes just in time for the Lunar New Year celebrations, ranging from beef ball in supreme soup, fish-broth dumpling with fish maw, and deep-fried shrimp dumplings with garlic to crispy puff pastry with lobster, spicy lobster spring rolls and crispy barbecue pork and fresh pineapple puff.
Ship Kee

For something a little more casual and classic, Wanchai’s newly relocated Ship Kee is the perfect choice. Dishes such as the steamed black-truffle and scallop dumplings, braised bean-curd sheet rolls in fish broth, pan-fried turnip cake with minced prawn, steamed chicken bun with ginger, turnip puff pastries, steamed rice rolls with shrimp and chives, and Vietnamese-style crispy prawn rice roll are all among our top picks.
