We’ll also bring you the latest on your favorite restaurants, whether they’re introducing new menu items or welcoming a new chef in the kitchen.
Openings
Chashni Cafe opened at 349 Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair, serving a breakfast and brunch menu they describe as “Pakistani ingredients and American culture.” Chashni’s drink menu offers a variety of coffees, chai, hot chocolate and matcha drinks.
Artazu Bakery Cafe at 6 Depot Square offers Argentine and Uruguayan-inspired bakery sweets and savories, such as alfajores, danishes, empanadas and more.
Smoothie King, a chain that opened at 310 Bloomfield Avenue (check out the opening day photo by Montclair Center), offers smoothies using whole fruits and organic veggies with vegan and gluten-free options. They also offer a Glp-1 support menu.
Insomnia Coffee Shop is a mobile coffee truck located in Lackawanna Plaza (in the parking lot behind TD Bank). You can call ahead and place your order at 973-680-6302 or just stop by the truck.
Coming Soon
Oso Felipe at 2 Erie Street in the former Richie Cecere spot keeps teasing us with “opening soon” posts and mouth-watering photos of the authentic and contemporary Mexican cuisine it will serve.
Tous Les Jours, a French-Asian-inspired chain bakeries, is gearing up to open in the former Lululemon space at 520 Bloomfield Avenue this month. The bakery sells artisan pastries, gourmet cakes, freshly baked bread, and coffee.
Montclair is getting another meal delivery service. Feast & Fettle, a company that started in New England, will deliver fresh meals to Montclair members beginning on January 4.
Mashed Burgers, known for its Halal-certified smashed burgers, is expanding with a new location coming to Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair. Already a hit in two other Jersey locations, the owners shared their excitement about joining the Montclair food scene with us a couple of months ago. They aim to open their doors in the new year if all goes as planned.
The sign is up, and the Instagram page is launched for Sardela, a Greek seafood restaurant, at the former Guerriero Gelato space at 571 Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair. Named after the Greek word for sardine, the restaurant promises to serve authentic Greek seafood. The owners tell us that they hope to open in the first quarter of 2025.
Another coffee shop will be opening in Montclair. Qahwah House, which has 17 locations in the U.S. (the closest in Clifton, NJ), is a family business that offers a selection of premium coffee beans sourced directly from Yemen.
Closings
Kreme & Krumbs announced the closing of its shop at 147 Bloomfield Avenue. The “Dope Ass Ice Cream Shop” is moving to an online shop with delivery.
