Lipton announced that it would be discontinuing the Peach Lipton Ice Tea flavour with a post on social media, last night.
Immediately, fans of the drink shared their shock and sadness at the decision, as the drinks brand apologised.
However, today the brand revealed it was an early April Fool’s joke, assuring fans that the drinks were safe.
Posting to Instagram, Lipton Ice Tea said: “Peach is here to stay.
“Oops, is it still March? Goy my dates mixed up… thought it was April Fools already!
“I’d never take away your favourite flavour, pookies.
“Your love for Peach has not gone unnoticed. But I’ve got your back, I will be sending a surprise to the biggest fans with the best reactions.”
Fans took to social media to express their relief that the “best flavour” was returning.
One said: “DON’T EVER PLAY WITH ME LIKE THAT AGAIN.”
Another said: “I went straight to my local Tesco and emptied the shelves of every bottle. So glad it is staying.”
However, others were less impressed, with one saying: “Lol, what a terrible joke…”
