The supermarket has reduced prices on more than 1,000 items since the start of the year.
Richard Bourns, Chief Commercial Officer at Lidl GB, said: “We’re committed to providing our customers with the best value every single day, and our teams work tirelessly throughout the year to deliver this for them.
“We also firmly believe that everyone should have access to healthy affordable food, which is why we ensure that we’re offering the lowest prices in the market and it’s why we’re on a mission to bring new Lidl stores to more communities across the country.”
To make more of the festive season, Lidl has also shared its tips to help shoppers navigate the busy festive season.
Revealing its opening hours, Lidl confirmed that all of its stores in GB will be closed on Christmas Day and most stores will also remain closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Customers are also encouraged to check their local store’s opening hours on the online store finder or through the Lidl Plus app.
Asda has also announced it will be cutting prices on 956 everyday grocery items both in-store and online.
Rachel Eyre, Chief Customer Officer at Asda, said: “We understand the pressure families are under from rising living costs and we’re stepping up our support as we enter an expensive time of year for our customers.
“We’re cutting prices on the everyday products they rely on the most, helping them bring down their food bills and get even more value every time they shop with us.
“This is real support, where it counts. That’s Asda Price.”
With food price inflation reaching 5% in September, Asda’s latest Income Tracker reveals that lower-income households are facing a weekly shortfall of £74 between their earnings and the cost of essential spending.
The latest price cuts are in addition to the 3452 Rollback deals currently available.
