LEE COUNTY, Ark. – The Lee County School District has begun confiscating student cell phones as part of a new policy attempting to “place the focus on learning.”
Superintendent Michael Stone, in a post on the district’s Facebook page, said they are still having problems with students using cell phones while at school. Stone said they had previously implemented a policy that included a pouch that would allow students to keep their phones on them; however, he said, some students and staff were not sticking to the policy.
“Beginning today,” Stone said, “We will collect phones and parents must pick them up. Students who refuse to submit the phone will be suspended and no makeup work will be offered.”
