Kasper Hjulmand on his return to the Bundesliga: “Football in Germany is for the people.”

As it turned out, Hjulmand’s last match in charge of a football team of any sort also came in Dortmund. Hjulmand’s Danish national team found themselves eliminated from the 2024 Euros in the Round-of-16 in the infamous rain-delayed elimination match on June 29th, 2024. Hjulmand referenced this fixture when answering.

“It was very nice,” Hjulmand said in German before switching to English. “I’ve missed working in football. My last game with the national team was also here in Germany, but I’ve also missed the Bundesliga. I really like the Bundesliga. Football here in Germany is for the people. There’s great passion for the game. I love it. It was really nice.”
