WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Kansas Blue Ribbon Task Force on Screen Time presented its findings to the state board of education on Tuesday.
One suggestion includes taking away students’ cell phones, headphones, and smartwatches during the school day, even during lunch and between classes. The task force refers to this recommendation as a bell-to-bell policy.
“We want the state board to implement the recommendations, and something to keep in mind for all school districts is that this is recommendations; it’s not a mandate,” Ava Gustin, a high school student on the task force, said. “So, then it would go to the districts all across the state, and they could choose how they want to implement the recommendations and where they go from there.”
The members of the state board of education can vote on adopting the recommendations next month.
