My top 10 things to watch Wednesday, Feb. 26
1. Nvidia earnings tonight: End of world or not? Is the investment case damaged by DeepSeek claims of a more efficient AI model? The Chinese startup’s advancement helps Nvidia, CEO Jensen Huang said last week. Analysts will get their first crack at speaking to Huang firsthand. As of last Thursday’s close, Nvidia shares recovered most of their DeepSeek losses. While up this morning, the Club stock has seen sharp losses for three straight sessions.
2. Salesforce also reports earnings tonight. The Club stock, like Nvidia, was getting a boost this morning as the tech-heavy Nasdaq looks to break its four-session losing streak. As of Tuesday, Salesforce shares have decline for five sessions in row.
3. CrowdStrike price targets are being raised on Wall Street even as the stock has come down as part of the great tech rotation in the broader market. The Club name reports earnings next week. We looked at cybersecurity stocks, including fellow Club holding Palo Alto Networks, in yesterday afternoon’s Homestretch.
4. Shares of TJX Companies jumped 3.5% this morning after the off-price retailer behind T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods posted a strong holiday quarter. Investors are looking past the Club name’s guidance miss.
5. Lowe’s shares jumped more than 3% this morning after the home improvement giant delivered an excellent quarter. Muscling in on Club name Home Depot, professionals drove Lowe’s same-store sales growth.
6. Housing remains challenged. And, like Home Depot, Lowe’s was conservative on forecasting home improvement. Analysts were mixed on Home Depot’s financials. But the housing situation is already priced into these stocks.
7. Cava had a good quarter, and the stock popped more than 3%. Be careful of first move, this one was down instantly and then right back up. The Mediterranean fast-casual chain is also murky about the future.
8. Super Micro Computer won’t be delisted, and shares rocketed more than 20% higher. The troubled server provider said it “regained compliance” with the Nasdaq for its filling requirements.
9. General Motors raised its quarterly dividend and announced a new $6 billion buyback plan. GM shares gained 3% this morning. The automaker reported strong quarterly results late last month.
10. JPMorgan put a “positive catalyst watch” on Club name Eli Lilly ahead of Phase 3 trial results for orforglipron, the company’s oral obesity and diabetes drug. Zepbound and Mounjaro are injectables.
