Jason Donovan has shared insights into his new lifestyle and his anticipation for becoming a grandfather.
The 56 year old Australian icon graced the set of Lorraine Kelly’s popular ITV morning show on Tuesday, where he spoke about his lead role in Richard O’Brien’s iconic rock ‘n’ roll musical, The Rocky Horror Show, as part of his upcoming world tour.
Lorraine highlighted the sentimental value of the show to Jason, as it was during its run that he met his wife, Angela Malloch.
Jason disclosed that Angela was working as a stage manager when they first met. Their initial friendship blossomed into a romance that remains strong to this day.
Lorraine initiated the conversation with: “So the show, it really meant a lot to you because that’s where you met your wife,” reports the Mirror.
To which Jason responded: “Yes that’s where I met my wife,” adding, “We’re still very strong so that’s another success story and she was a stage manager in 1998 and you know the rest is history.”
While Jason and Angela tend to keep their family life private, it is known that they have three children: Jemma (born 2000), Zac (born 2001), and Molly (born 2011).
Discussing his family, Jason expressed that although he isn’t a grandfather yet, it’s an experience he eagerly awaits.
He elaborated: “Three kids later. You know I don’t have grandchildren yet but maybe I don’t know” before turning the question to Lorraine, asking: “How old is your daughter?”
She disclosed: “30,” and Jason followed up with: “Well my oldest is 24 so you never know, I mean anything can happen.”
Lorraine chimed in: “Yes anything can happen.”
During another segment, Jason opened up about his recent lifestyle overhaul, revealing that he has revamped his eating habits by excluding processed foods from his diet.
The celebrity, who gained fame from his role in the popular Australian soap Neighbours, shared: “I like to keep physically fit. I’ve changed my diet recently and I’m not eating processed foods, cut out coffee, and drinking a lot more water.”
He added: “But I’m in my mid-50s – I mean how did that happen? When I think about it, it feels pretty crazy.”
Turning to Lorraine, he commented: “Well we are still here doing it.” Lorraine agreed, saying: “Yes true we are and loving it.”
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
