A YouTube video offers a glimpse at the major design changes Apple plans for iOS 19. It contains re-created renders of the OS based on the information provided by a source from within the company.

It shows the visionOS-inspired UI elements and the squircle icons.

iOS 19 could introduce squircle icons and UI elements

Multiple reports suggest Apple will give iOS 19 a visionOS-inspired makeover. Leaker Jon Prosser even shared a video containing re-created renders of the UI and Lock Screen, showing off the glossy new design with rounded corners. The leaker is back again, sharing more re-created renders of iOS 19 based on an even newer build this time.

Based on the video, Apple will seemingly adopt squircle icons and rounded UI elements throughout the OS. This covers everything from the home screen icons to the Control Center toggles.

Unlike the circular icons in visionOS, Apple plans to use icons with a corner radius of 30 degrees, giving them a squircle look. Other OS UI elements will also use the same corner radius. Apple will also revamp the system toggles and animations in line with this change.

Prosser noticed that some lock screen elements shimmer based on the device’s movement, enhancing the glossy aesthetic. It’s unclear if the same effect will apply throughout the OS.

New design but no major learning curve

As part of iOS 19, Apple will purportedly revamp its system apps to add a pill-shaped bottom tab bar with slick animations. In the Messages app, the search option will shift to the bottom, putting it within easier reach of your thumb.

Despite the visual changes, Prosser says iOS 19 will not introduce any major new visual changes. The experience will likely be the same, just fresher and newer.

Apple will hold WWDC25 on June 9, so we are just two months away from getting our first official look at the OS.
