As a summer person through and through, I’ll gladly take any opportunity to bring my spring/summer outfits out of their vacuum bags as soon as a warm-weather trip is on the cards. And this is exactly what I did in order to visit Jamaica in March. Having been a fashion editor for over 10 years, I’ve got a carefully curated edit of pieces I bring out each and every season. But with spring/summer 2025 trends tempting me to update my collection, I wanted to try them all out while on the Caribbean island.
I’ve visited Jamaica before, staying in Montego Bay back in 2022 to style a shoot at Destiny Villa, so the palm tree-lined streets had already won me over, rum punch no matter the time of day and of course, the balmy weather that allowed me to bring out my favourite outfits. This time round, I was able to see more of the island – heading back to Montego Bay, making our way over to Portland via helicopter (to stay at Pompey, owned by DJ Diplo) and finishing the week-long trip in Ocho Rios where we got to stay at the infamous Jamaica Inn – where Marilyn Monroe got married and honeymooned back in 1957.
Taking every opportunity to wear this season’s key trends, I tried out the colour set to dominate spring (hint: pink is back), I had a Marilyn Monroe moment myself in the dress shape you’re about to see a lot of this summer. I wore the two prints that are set to totally take over this year. From the runway to real life, this is how I styled the seven key spring/summer 2025 trends in the Caribbean.
Powder pink
It’s been all about butter yellow and red for quite a few seasons now, and while they were still prominent on the catwalks, one colour stood out most: powder pink. Pastels are synonymous with spring, and so many designers backed the soft shade for 2025 – Jil Sander opted for structured dresses in the blush tone, mixing with heavier accessories, Dolce & Gabbana kept the look soft with satin, and the likes of Miu Miu went for high-shine skirts in the colour of the year. I’ve been appreciating a lot of the oversized baggy ’80s-style suiting we’ve seen from Saint Laurent and Stella McCartney for spring/summer 2025, so I wanted to try out two trends in one with a pastel pink trouser suit from Scandi label Samsøe and Samsøe (you can shop it below).
I wore this on my first night in Montego Bay, where I stayed at Flower Hill Villa, and was all dressed up ready for a feast of local dishes. Although I went top-to-toe in the colour, an easy way to try out the trend is to add an accessory like a bag or earrings – and let me tell you, this shade of pink works particularly well with berry shades, silver, brown or contrasted with red.

New nautical
Heading out for a sunset snorkel with Aristo Kat tours while in Montego Bay, I was aptly dressed for the yacht trip in one of this season’s most popular trends: nautical. While iterations of this trend are around most summers, this year it feels a lot more luxe and wearable than before. Prada created the outfit formula I’ll be wearing on repeat all spring – a striped knit with a midi skirt (preferably fringed) plus heels. Tommy Hilfiger showcased Bermuda shorts paired with sleek shirts and oversized blazers, while Proenza Schouler opted for cool striped co-ords.
