Canadian fashion industry icon Jeanne Beker is set to join a Canadian Project Runway revival coming later this year. On Tuesday, Bell Media announced that a 10-episode Canadian adaptation of the fashion competition, dubbed Project Runway Canada, will be debuting on Crave, with production beginning this summer.

The 73-year-old TV host and author is slated to join the series as a judge, alongside Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha, who will also act as host and executive producer. Beker shared the news in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

“Woooohooo! [Crave Canada] here we come!” she captioned the post, tagging Rocha.

The post generated hundreds of likes and comments, with fellow Canadian celebrities praising the upcoming reality TV show.

“Go go go! Can’t wait for this! We’ve missed you!” Canadian TV personality Melissa Grelo wrote on Beker’s post.

“This is awesome — what an amazing team!” wrote Jay Manuel, a Canadian makeup artist and TV host.

“Jeanne, this is the most amazing news! I’m over the moon for you and [Coco Rocha],” wrote Breakfast Television host Dina Pugliese.

“An absolute perfect fit for you Jeanne!” echoed Tracy Moore, while Sangita Patel chimed in with “Woohoo! So exciting.”

Fans were equally excited.

“OMG! I get to have Jeanne back on my TV,” wrote one happy fan.

“Yes! All I want is reality competition shows with you!” another said.

“A tailor-made fit. Congratulations,” echoed a third fan.

Beker, who was born in Toronto, has been an icon in the Canadian entertainment and fashion industries for decades. She got her start at age 16 on the 1968 Canadian sitcom Toby and rose to prominence while co-hosting Citytv’s The New Music in 1979.

She was also a founding member of MuchMusic, and was the host of Fashion Television for nearly three decades. She has since covered everything from the 2010 Vancouver Olympics to Prince William and Princess Kate’s royal wedding, and has also authored several books, including a memoir that she released last year.

Beker was also a judge on Canada’s Next Top Model from 2006-2009, and appeared as a guest judge in the first season of Canada’s Drag Race: Canada vs. the World in 2022. Since 2015, she has acted as a style editor for The Shopping Channel, where she hosts the series Style Matters with Jeanne Beker.

Her many achievements were recognized when she was named to the Order of Canada in 2013, and when she was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2016.

Project Runway Canada will be produced in collaboration with Toronto Metropolitan University’s Fashion at The Creative School. Filming is set to begin this summer, and the series will debut on Crave later this year.
