Houston crime: Shots fired during cell phone store robbery, employee shot

Police released video from the Jan. 26 robbery that left an 18-year-old employee in critical condition.

HOUSTON — Houston police want you to take a good look at the video they released on Monday. It shows two guys wanted in a violent armed robbery at a southeast Houston cell phone store.

The video is from Sunday, January 26, a little after 5 p.m. at the store on Cullen Boulevard near Bellfort. Two men walked into the store. At least one was armed with a gun.

As soon as they got inside, they demanded cash and cell phones. Police said the suspect in a yellow jacket fired a few shots at an employee, initially missing him. Then, as the employee was trying to get away through the front door, he was shot multiple times.

The 18-year-old victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. As of this posting, he remains in the hospital. 

Police said the suspects got away with cash and possibly some cell phones. They took off into a nearby neighborhood.
