Hong Kong Express Airways has announced a new partnership with Shun Tak-China Travel Ship Management Limited, aiming to enhance travel convenience between Macau and Hong Kong International Airport via shuttle bus services across the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB).
Under the so-called “HK Express Intermodal Pass” service, passengers can book both flight and shuttle bus tickets in a single transaction through HK Express.
The service also enables upstream check-in at the Macau port of the bridge, allowing travellers to receive their boarding passes and check in luggage before departure and eliminating the need for further immigration, customs, or boarding procedures upon arrival at the airport.
In a statement on Tuesday, HK Express said bookings for the service opened on 4 November, with operations set to begin on 28 November.
Kee Keat Ong, commercial director of HK Express, described the Macau extension of the HK Express Intermodal Pass as “a significant milestone” in realising seamless connectivity across Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macau.
Alan Wong, commercial director of Shun Tak-China Travel Ship Management, said the collaboration is expected to further strengthen Macau’s links to global destinations via the Hong Kong airport.
He added that the initiative would also reinforce Hong Kong’s position as a leading international aviation hub and accelerate the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area’s integration with the rest of the world.
Daily schedule
The shuttle bus journey between the Hong Kong airport and the Macau port of the HZMB takes about 45 minutes, with 36 trips scheduled daily. These include 18 from the airport to Macau (8:30 am to 9:30 pm) and 18 in the opposite direction (7:30 am to 8:30 pm).
HK Express advises passengers departing from Macau to the airport to arrive at least 90 minutes before their scheduled bus departure.
Currently, travellers from Macau to the Hong Kong airport can check in either at Macau’s departure points or at SkyPier Terminal, a dedicated cross-border facility within the Hong Kong airport. A total of 18 airlines support upstream check-in from Macau, including Cathay Pacific, EVA Air, and Emirates.
In addition to operating HZMB shuttle services, Shun Tak-China Travel Ship Management runs the TurboJET cross-border ferry service. Its shareholders include Shun Tak Holdings, a transport-to-property conglomerate chaired by Macau gaming heavyweight Pansy Ho Chiu King, and state-owned China Travel International Investment Hong Kong Limited.
