According to Apple, the Apple Watch is one of the best-selling watches globally, encompassing all types of watches, not just smart ones. Despite a decade of these devices being worn worldwide, one might assume that one of the most frequently used apps would also have an Apple Watch app, but this has not been the case until now.

9to5Google recently spotted that the Apple Watch now officially supports the Google Calendar app. The app appears quite basic, but it finally allows Apple Watch users to view the Google Calendar app on their wrist.

iPhones support all Google apps, but there are very few Google apps available on the Apple Watch. If you use Google Calendar on your iPhone, you have had to settle for the Apple calendar app on your watch and hope it syncs accurately, or import your Google account’s calendar onto the Apple app on your iPhone. What a hassle.

Now, it seems your Google-related wishes have been granted. While you cannot create new events or reminders from your wrist, at least Apple Watch owners now have an official way to view Google Calendar and receive notifications so they do not miss crucial appointments.

The app can display the next week’s worth of events and your Google Tasks. It also mirrors the color coding you can assign to these events and Tasks from the main Calendar app.

It has also been reported that two complications are available, which can be integrated into select watch faces. These include your next appointment and the current date, already existing in Apple Calendar format.

Presumably, tapping these new complications will open the Google Calendar app. However, it would not be Google if they did not eliminate something while introducing something new.

Tech Radar observed that Google has discontinued the Google Keep, Google’s note-taking app, for Apple Watch.

This means that the watch only has three apps, including Google Calendar, Google Maps and YouTube Music.
