‘Mr. House Husband’ delivered unpredictable entertainment with the stories of Park Seojin and Park Yeong-gyu’s families.

The KBS 2TV variety show ‘Mr. House Husband Season 2,’ which aired on the 4th, featured the second part of Park Seojin’s family’s eventful trip to Hong Kong and an episode with Park Yeong-gyu and his wife meeting the ‘model celebrity couple’ Joo Young-hoon and Lee Yoon-mi. According to Nielsen Korea, the episode recorded a nationwide rating of 3.8%. The highest rating of 4.8% was achieved during the segment showing Park Seojin’s family stranded in their hotel on the second day of their Hong Kong trip due to Typhoon No. 8.

This episode began with warm Chuseok greetings. Special guests Bang Jeemin and Coco from the girl group Izna brightened up the studio. MC Eun Ji-won, who is set to get married this month, commented, ‘This Chuseok will be busy,’ and when asked about his wish upon the full moon, he joked, ‘I hope the bride shows up at the wedding,’ causing laughter among the cast.

In the VCR segment, viewers saw Park Seojin’s family’s first overseas trip to Hong Kong. The family boarded the plane with excitement, each member visibly thrilled. Park Seojin’s mother was moved, saying, ‘I’ve always wanted to visit Hong Kong, and Seojin made my wish come true.’ His father also expressed his affection, saying, ‘It’s fun to travel with the family. I even kissed Seojin’s mom and felt great.’

However, the excitement was short-lived as Park Seojin soon became anxious. When it was time to order drinks and meals from the foreign flight attendants, he grew nervous. He quickly grabbed his English book, seemingly ready to use the English skills he had honed over three years, but his confidence vanished when the moment arrived. Unable to speak, he watched as his younger sister Hyojeong smoothly placed the order, leaving him flustered and drawing laughter. Embarrassed, Park Seojin spent the rest of the flight studying his English book.

But the real ordeal was just beginning. Upon arrival at Hong Kong airport, Typhoon No. 8 struck, cutting off the route to their hotel. The situation became so serious that even the production crew had to halt filming. Park Seojin said, ‘My family came all this way because of me, so I felt really sorry. I was completely at a loss,’ expressing his distress and self-blame.

When the rain briefly let up, the family moved to their accommodation. However, exhausted from the night flight and the typhoon, they complained, ‘We shouldn’t have come. We should have gone to Ulleungdo instead. We’re just sitting here, unable to see anything.’ This made Park Seojin feel disappointed. The bad weather continued the next day, forcing the family to stay inside and enjoy an unplanned hotel vacation. Park Seojin struggled to revise the itinerary, wandering in the rain to come up with new plans.

Fortunately, as the typhoon subsided and the weather cleared, Park Seojin brought out the family uniforms he had prepared, hoping to lift everyone’s spirits. After escaping the hotel after 12 hours, the family boarded a ferry to Macau in high spirits. His mother expressed her satisfaction, saying, ‘I’m glad we came. I would have regretted it if we hadn’t.’ The family dinner on the boat was filled with laughter, and Park Seojin couldn’t hide his joy seeing his happy family.

However, the joy was short-lived as another typhoon approached, and even a heated argument between his parents was foreshadowed, turning the trip tense. Viewers are left wondering if Park Seojin’s family trip will continue safely. Meanwhile, the meeting of the ‘notorious grooms’ in the entertainment industry also took place. The couple Park Yeong-gyu and Lee Yoon-joo, who have a 25-year age difference, met with Joo Young-hoon and Lee Yoon-mi, who are 12 years apart, and enjoyed a pleasant time together. When Joo Young-hoon shared that he was called a ‘robber’ due to the age gap at the time of his marriage, Park Yeong-gyu joked, ‘If I had gotten married then, it would have been a huge scandal.’ Joo Young-hoon replied, ‘You would have been forced to take a break from TV for a while,’ filling the room with laughter.

On the show, Park Yeong-gyu’s wife candidly revealed her feelings about her husband, who, unlike the domestic Joo Young-hoon, is not very involved in household chores. She said, ‘People think my husband dotes on me because of our age difference, but that’s not true at all.’ Joo Young-hoon responded, ‘There’s no gender division in housework; whoever wants to do it should do it.’ Park Yeong-gyu’s wife clapped in strong agreement.

Feeling cornered, Park Yeong-gyu called out, ‘You, come here!’ to Joo Young-hoon, raising the tension, but it turned out he just wanted to ask for a song, providing a twist and making everyone laugh. Park Yeong-gyu expressed his sincere wish, saying, ‘As I approach the latter part of my life, I want to leave behind a masterpiece like ‘My Way.”

During a meal with the four of them, the topic turned to why Park Yeong-gyu and his wife never went on a honeymoon, as well as the secret of Park Yeong-gyu’s safe, which he had never revealed to anyone. When Lee Yoon-mi and Joo Young-hoon pressed him about what was in the safe, Park Yeong-gyu made a bombshell confession, saying, ‘The history of my three previous marriages is in that safe,’ causing everyone to burst into laughter.

The conversation then shifted to honeymoons, with questions like, ‘Have you ever been on a honeymoon?’ and ‘Which destination was your favorite?’ Park Yeong-gyu was visibly flustered. In the end, he simply held up three fingers to indicate the number, making everyone laugh. However, instead of feeling upset, his wife surprised everyone with her cool response, asking, ‘Then where would you like to go with me?’ Park Yeong-gyu confessed, ‘I wanted to go after finishing my drama, but we missed the timing for a honeymoon. I realized she had been holding back her feelings about it.’

Park Yeong-gyu’s wife left a lasting impression with her words, ‘Let’s travel a lot together. You shouldn’t travel when your legs are shaking; you should travel when your heart is pounding.’ After Joo Young-hoon and Lee Yoon-mi left, Park Yeong-gyu transformed into a ‘domestic husband,’ doing the dishes and even preparing face masks for his wife, moving her deeply.

This episode highlighted Park Seojin’s devotion in preparing the trip for his family and the strong family bond as they overcame challenges and kept smiling despite the typhoon. The episode also showcased the affectionate yet playful relationship between Park Yeong-gyu and his wife, as well as Joo Young-hoon and Lee Yoon-mi, providing both laughter and warmth.
