Harper Hair, a local UK business run by father-and-daughter duo Jason and Keavy Harper, has launched what they claim is the United Kingdom’s first scrunchie vending machine, according to a News and Star report. Located in Carlisle at The Lanes shopping center next to Katie Loxton, the machine offers a convenient way for customers to purchase their handmade scrunchies.
Keavy Harper, 25, and Jason Harper, 51, who have been crafting scrunchies for about five years, debuted the vending machine this morning. The machine holds 126 scrunchies in various colors and fabrics, priced at £10 ($12.75 USD) each.
“We make scrunchies all day, every day, but this is the first time that someone can have the experience of being able to see the product before they buy it,” Keavy Harper told the news outlet. “It’s a good way to offer local people the product on the spot without delivery fees or times.”
The pair has been planning the vending machine since March, having originally sought permission two years ago. They produce 80 to 100 scrunchies daily for online sales and encourage customers to tag @harperhair_ on social media when they make a purchase.
