Who is Jackson Wang?
From being a K-pop band member to a fashion icon, Jackson Wang is a celebrity with numerous achievements. He is a singer, rapper, and songwriter who gained fame as a member of the boy band Got7 and eventually became a breakout solo artist.
The musical genius is recognised as one of the top stars of the Asian entertainment industry. His solo album, Mirrors and Magic Man, has gained recognition on the USA’s Billboard. Eventually, he began his record label, Team Wang, and started the Chinese hip-hop band, Panthepack.
Not only is Jackson Wang a multi-talented artist, but he is also a global fashion icon! Louis Vuitton, Fendi, and Cartier are just some of the top luxury brands for which Jackson Wang serves as the brand ambassador. The singer founded the fashion label Team Wang Design, emulating his fashion sense and making it available to his fans.
This world-renowned star’s humble beginnings took place in Hong Kong. Jackson Wang was born in Kowloon Tong, a neighbourhood renowned among martial arts fans as the home of the legendary Bruce Lee!
Exploring Kowloon Tong in Hong Kong
Locally famous as one of the most expensive residential areas in Hong Kong, Kowloon Tong is south of Lion Rock, north of Boundary Street, east of the East Rail Line, and west of Grampian Road.
The neighbourhood showcases a different side of Hong Kong. It is situated away from the skyscrapers and is covered in lush greenery and suburban houses. Considered Hong Kong’s original garden city, it was developed as a haven for expats, with streets named after English counties. The residential area is renowned for its premier schools and the City University of Hong Kong.
How to reach: The district is accessible through Kowloon Tong Station, an interchange station for the MTR East Rail Line and Kwun Tong Line. Hong Kong International Airport is approximately 33 kilometres away.
Hike the Beacon Hill
Enjoy panoramic views of the Kowloon Peninsula at the top of Beacon Hill. Standing 457 metres tall, the hill is located within Lion Rock Country Park. Hikers can take Section Five of the MacLehose Trail as they hike up Beacon Hill to reach Lion Rock. Note that the road on the hill receives one-way traffic.
Shop at Festival Walk, Kowloon Tong
Festival Walk, one of the largest shopping malls in Hong Kong, is the highlight of Kowloon Tong. With over 200 international shops and restaurants, the skylit space has been designed to combine nature, architecture, and shopping. This is a shopper’s paradise where people can browse high-end fashion, makeup, skincare, and jewellery. Kowloon Tong Station is located within the mall, making it easily accessible.

Go ice skating at The Glacier
There are only a few places in Hong Kong where one can ice skate, and Kowloon Tong is one of them. The Festival Walk has the Glacier, where novice and experienced ice skaters glide through the frozen rink. They also have a skating school and provide lockers and skates for rental.

Pay respects at the Shang Sin Chun Tong, Kowloon Tong
This Taoist temple was built in 1952 and is a popular local worship site. The complex has several halls and altars with different statues of Taoist gods. What is unique about this temple in Hong Kong is that it houses the memorial tablets of two Cantopop stars, Anita Mui and Wong Kar-kui.

Visit Bruce Lee’s address — 41 Cumberland Road, Kowloon Tong
Famous as the last residence of the great Bruce Lee, world-famous martial artist and actor, 41 Cumberland Road used to occupy the Crane’s Nest, his two-storey townhouse. Bruce Lee’s home was demolished in 2019, and a private clubhouse was established. However, people can still visit the address to see where he resided until he died in 1973.
