China has raised tariffs on U.S. goods to 125% from 84% as the trade war between the world’s two largest economies escalates.

The Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council said on Friday that U.S. goods exported to China are no longer marketable.

China will also disregard any further tariffs increases by the U.S. on Chinese goods.

The move came after the White House clarified overnight that tariffs imposed on China by President Trump in his second term add up to 145%, not 125%, as previously indicated.

Beijing has responded with a broad set of countermeasures, including raising levies on U.S. goods and reducing the number of American films allowed to enter the country.
