The free face-to-face clinics will run in Wiltshire throughout October and November at Nationwide branches in Chippenham, Trowbridge, Salisbury and Swindon.
They are delivered through a partnership between Dementia UK and Nationwide and are led by specialist Admiral Nurses, who provide practical and emotional advice on all aspects of dementia.
Appointments can be booked through the Dementia UK website at https://www.dementiauk.org/nationwide/?misc=media.
Sarah Cooper, Admiral Nurse at Dementia UK, said: “We’re looking forward to returning to Wiltshire to offer support and advice to families affected by dementia in the area.
“Our clinic programme, in partnership with Nationwide Building Society, has now been running for over a year which has enabled us to reach thousands of people across the country who need the support of a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse.”
The clinics offer private, confidential appointments in a safe and comfortable environment, covering concerns from early symptoms and diagnosis through to understanding how dementia might progress.
Dementia UK has shared some of the most common signs and symptoms ahead of the clinics, noting that while memory problems are often associated with dementia, early indicators may not always involve memory loss.
Other symptoms can include challenges with decision making, losing interest in favourite activities, difficulty understanding time and place, communication issues such as struggling to find the right words, and noticeable changes in behaviour or personality.
The Wiltshire clinics are part of Nationwide’s wider social impact programme, Fairer Futures, which supports major UK charities addressing family poverty, youth homelessness, dementia and cancer.
Through this partnership, Nationwide is funding 30 Admiral Nurses and hosting clinics at 200 branches nationwide.
Charlotte Kensett, director of customer experience and social impact for Nationwide, said: “Dementia impacts millions of families and that’s why we’re incredibly proud to have brought life-changing support into 200 of our branches and helped more than 30,000 people through our partnership with Dementia UK.
“As a mutual we believe we have a role to play in strengthening the communities we serve and supporting those most in need.
“Through our social impact strategy, Nationwide Fairer Futures, we’re committed to changing hundreds of thousands of lives for the better.”
Wiltshire clinics will be held at the Chippenham branch on October 14, 15 and 16, Trowbridge on November 12 and 13, Salisbury on November 18, 19 and 20, and Swindon Croft on November 25, 26 and 27.
