Charlize Theron is getting real about her experience on the dating apps—and it sounds like she has beef with one celebrity-loved platform in particular. While making an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on June 26, the Mad Max: Fury Road actress confirmed she’s on Raya while opening up about why she thinks it’s unlikely she’ll find love on the dating app.
The Monster star is notoriously private about her dating life, despite previously being in relationships with fellow celebrities like Sean Penn, Stuart Townsend, and Third Eye Blind’s Stephen Jenkins. However, Theron revealed that she has a Raya account when asked by Cohen on Thursday’s episode.
The Old Guard 2 actress was quick to clarify, “I don’t do anything with it,” to which Cohen asked, “Right, you don’t?” Theron explained, “A friend put me on it. I went on two dates. Because every week, it’s every guy has a Burning Man picture. And they’re, like, a CEO, like, of nothing. And they’re all like, into fitness.”

Cohen seemed to agree with the star’s assessment, joking, “Or like a creative director of nothing.” Theron said she’d had too many experiences where potential love interests weren’t who they’d claimed on the app, sharing, “Then you meet with them, and they’re not. I just say it up front. I’m like, ‘Well, why did you put that on your thing?’ No, I don’t like it.”
Theron, who is mom to daughters 12-year-old Jackson and 9-year-old August, previously told Drew Barrymore that her attitude around dating had shifted after welcoming her kids.

“Once I had my children, it’s not that it replaces something, or that it makes you less interested in something else,” she said on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2020. “I’m still firing on all cylinders. I just think your priorities are in a place that is of high demand; it’s a lot of work to be a parent. Part of that is at the end of the day I get to bed and I think, ‘Oh my God, I wouldn’t want this day to be any different.’”

Revealing at the time that she hadn’t dated anyone for five years, Theron said she wasn’t lonely and was only open to new men that “come with a lot of game.”
“Not the kind of game that we think of,” she explained, “The kind of game that’s like, ‘My life is really good, so you better be able to bring that and maybe better,’ because I just won’t accept anything less,”
