Cathay Pacific launches the refreshed 2025 edition of its ‘I Can Fly’ youth programme, inspiring Hong Kong’s youth to explore aviation careers and boost travel.

Cathay Pacific has officially launched the 2025 edition of its renowned youth development initiative, I Can Fly, unveiling an updated structure designed to inspire the younger generation in Hong Kong to explore aviation careers while making meaningful contributions to their communities.

First introduced in 2003, the programme this year will engage around 2,000 participants, aged 10 to 18, and will focus on four essential pillars: Education, Discovery, Exploration, and Social Service.

The refreshed edition kicked off with two Aviation Explorer Days, which hosted 870 students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The event, supported by 70 Cathay volunteers, was held in collaboration with the Hong Kong SAR Government’s Strive and Rise initiative.

Liu Chun-san, Under Secretary for Transport and Logistics, officiated the event, alongside Cathay’s Director of People, Patricia Hwang, who returns as the Star Mentor for Strive and Rise for the second consecutive year.

During the Aviation Explorer Days, participants toured various Cathay facilities, including Cathay City, the Cathay Cargo Terminal, Cathay Dining, and the Cathay Academy. They also attended informative sessions about the airline industry’s history and career opportunities.

The Education pillar features the I Can Fly Youth Academy, a five-month aviation training course, while the Discovery pillar will culminate in the I Can Fly Discovery Flight later this year.

Cathay Pacific emphasized that the programme is part of its broader commitment to fostering youth development and strengthening Hong Kong’s position as a global aviation hub. Since its inception, over 4,400 students have completed the programme, with many alumni now employed in the aviation sector.
