Can ‘breakneck pace’ deal spare UK from Trump’s tsunami?

Sir Keir Starmer’s hopes of avoiding blanket tariffs of ten per cent on all UK exports to America now rest on a new economic deal with the US, which has been negotiated at “breakneck” pace.

The prime minister had hoped to have it in place before President Trump’s tariffs came into force but those hopes were dashed last week.
