TOKYO — Chinese automaker BYD’s worldwide electric vehicle sales came close to overtaking Tesla’s last quarter, underscoring the rapid progress Chinese players have made in capturing demand beyond their home country.
A total of 2.52 million EVs were sold across 55 markets between July and September, up 5% on the year, data from MarkLines shows. Though growth is slowing, sales are still on the rise globally.
