INDUSTRY CITY (WABC) — A fashion show was held Tuesday night to raise money for fellow Brooklyn creatives whose galleries were destroyed by a warehouse fire.
“A Very Brooklyn Fashion Show” showcased the talents of six emerging designers who live in the borough.
Organizers decided to turn it into a fundraiser for the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition after a massive fire destroyed its galleries in Red Hook last month.
The building, built in 1870 and constructed mostly of heavy timber, fueling the massive inferno.
The large building, housed multiple artist studios, with 50 to 100 artists using the space.
One tenant, who declined to be identified, says she uses her space to restore historical pieces of art for museums and high-end galleries.
