Bromyard's Peter Cooks Bread croissant could be UK's best

Bromyard-based bakery, Peter Cooks Bread, could be in the running to have their croissant named the best in the UK, having sent a batch off to the prestigious London Hotel, The Savoy, as part of the UK’s Best Croissant competition, organised by Isigny Sainte-Mère, the French dairy company.

The business, which also has a branch in Worcester’s Foregate Street, has been shortlisted for the Worcestershire Bakery of the Year Award, meaning that the team have secured a place at the National Bakery Awards Grand Final.

Bakery founder, Peter Doughty-Cook, said:“To be in the top 20 is a huge achievement and being judged by experts such as Richard Bertinet, Benoit Blin, and Cherish Finden, who evaluate the croissants on taste, texture, appearance, and more, was a real buzz.”

The bakery, which previously had its hop and barley sourdough loaf named Britain’s Best Loaf, produces its products without any artificial additives, using “responsibly sourced” ingredients.

Mr Doughty-Cook unveiled his new Bromyard shop earlier this year, which is based within the main production bakery for the wholesale operation,  and is a “tap room for a bakery”.

Along with selling their entire range of “Real Bread”, pastries, and sweet treats, including their famous almond croissants and cruffins, the shop also stocks products from Herefordshire brands, Willys ACV, Two Farmers Crisps and Hundred House Coffee from Ludlow.
