Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn will finally get their hands on one-another on Saturday night to settle their bad blood for good.

The two were initially set to meet at London’s O2 Arena in October 2022, but the bout was controversially shelved when Benn tested positive for clomifene in the build-up – a substance which is banned in boxing due to it having the ability to elevate levels of testosterone. Benn denied any wrongdoing throughout, suggesting that he may have tested positive due to ingestion of chicken eggs.

After a two year provisional ban, Benn was eventually cleared of any foul play last year, with the fight green-lighted once more in January. A face-off followed just a month later, in which, Eubank Jr slapped Benn in the face with an egg – an action which was slammed as “disgraceful” by his own father.

Now, with a hint of bad blood added to the already fiercely competitive nature of boxing, the two are finally set for a highly-anticipated showdown which promises fireworks from the off. With a record of 34-3 at middleweight and super-middleweight, Eubank Jr heads into the fray with a size advantage over his traditionally welterweight opponent.

However, the fight will take place at 160lbs, with a 10lb hydration clause written into the contract to prevent either man from gaining an advantage between the weigh-ins and fight night. Benn, meanwhile, has been untouchable in the world of boxing, boasting a perfect record of 23-0 with hopes of continuing his hunt for world championship glory.

While the 28-year-old clinched the WBA Continental welterweight strap in July 2018, defending his belt eight times against high-level opposition, he is yet to have a shot at a world title. And a win over Eubank Jr, a two-weight world champion, will certainly put him in the picture.

Eubank Jr and Benn headline the bill of what is being touted as ‘Fatal Fury’ on Saturday night at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The event kicks off at 5pm, while the undercard is set to take place 15 minutes later.

Fight fans hopeful of catching Eubank Jr’s bout with Benn will have to wait until around 10pm for the main event, although the timing could vary dependent on how long the undercard takes to conclude.

Quotes corner

Chris Eubank Jr: “The procedure will be parliamentary, that’s the only thing I can say about this fight. Everything will go the way I want it to go. I will be like a matador in that ring, and Conor Benn will be the bull.”

Conor Benn: “It’s always personal. Every opponent I fight is personal. People want to say it’s strictly business, it ain’t business. It’s never business. If you’re trying to put your hands on me and render me unconscious it’s never business. It’s always personal, every single one of my opponents. But this one has a little bit more history to it, shall we say?”
