Susan Crossman accepted the award at the global “Women Changing the World” (WCW) Awards event in London
An Oakville-based entrepreneur and book editor has won a national writing prize in the United Kingdom for her work as a book editor.
Susan Crossman has won the Gold Award for Literature at the global “Women Changing the World” (WCW) Awards event in London, U.K.
The awards program is headed by Dr. Tererai Trent—the woman named Oprah Winfrey’s all-time favourite guest—and it celebrates and recognizes women achieving outstanding success in such areas as sustainability, humanitarian work, leadership, tech, education, and health.
“These exceptional women are here to awaken hearts, give permission to recapture dreams, and inspire the women of the world to come together to forge a brighter path for all,” Dr. Trent explains. “The rising of women is the awakening of everybody.”
Dr. Trent’s vision for these awards is to empower women everywhere to reclaim their dreams and encourage them to unite to pave the way towards a better future for all.
Crossman (owner of Crossman Communications and author of five fiction and non-fiction books), works with clients internationally as an author coach and book editor. She says she is honoured to have won the Literature award.
“I was thrilled when I heard my name called!” she says. “To have been recognized at such a high level for my expertise is powerful validation for the work I do!
“The other finalists had extraordinary qualifications, and I met some truly amazing women at the awards event who are doing powerful work to support a brighter future for humanity.”
Ms. Crossman says that she works specifically with people who are writing books to make a difference in their world.
“I have seen first-hand how much dedication and heart it takes for emerging non-fiction authors to shift paradigms and create success,” she notes. “But I’ve come to believe that what they say is true: When we believe in our dreams and commit to taking consistent action towards them, almost anything is possible.”
Ms. Crossman is proud of the achievements that supported her bid for the WCW’s Gold Award in Literature: aside from running regular programs and services for emerging authors, in the last twelve months she has also run a writer’s retreat in the Ontario woodlands, organized a live speaking event for published authors in San Diego, California, and launched “Visionary Authors,” a mobile app that promotes authors and their books.
She attributes her success to a terrific business team, a supportive community of friends and colleagues, and the passion she brings to her work. Her vision for the future is to continue expanding her business so she can amplify the voices of those who are writing books.
“Writing a terrific book is an incredibly vulnerable act, and it takes a huge amount of commitment,” Ms. Crossman says. “I normalize the process for transformational leaders so they can step into a greater vision for their lives and their missions while leveraging their books to share their messages more widely, grow their platform, and increase their revenue.”
