BRATTLEBORO — Get ready to immerse yourself in the intersection of science, style, sustainability, self-expression, and community at Forest of Fashion. This unique, one-day event invites the public to experience an outdoor fashion showcase like no other, where creativity meets environmental consciousness.
On Sunday, April 27, from noon to 2 p.m., the Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center (BEEC) will transform into a living runway. Attendees will embark on a scenic walk through the woods, witnessing a captivating live fashion show along the trail. Each garment featured in the show is designed by local schools, community organizations, and artists, all with a commitment to sustainable fashion. Creations will be crafted from upcycled, repurposed, and natural materials, promoting an anti-fast fashion ethos and celebrating innovative eco-style.
This free event is open to all — no reservations or tickets are required. Guests are encouraged to arrive any time, but to experience the entire show, it’s essential to be on the trail by 1:30 p.m. at the latest. For individuals with mobility challenges, an accessible fashion show will take place at 2:15 p.m. in the BEEC courtyard.
Adding to the festivities, The Good Spot and Bratt Bakes will be onsite, offering beverages and baked goods for purchase.
Forest of Fashion is collaborating with Jay Calderin, a Latinx fashion educator and founder of Boston Fashion Week. Calderin, whose designs have been featured in Elle, Vogue and The New York Times Sunday Styles section, has played a pivotal role in mentoring participants through this project, according to a release.
Over the course of the 2024-2025 school year, Calderin has guided designers from concept to creation through a series of virtual coaching sessions. While submissions are now closed, organizers anticipate unveiling the incredible designs created for this event.
