Banks, UPS, FedEx, stock market open on Veterans Day? What to know

Veterans Day falls on Monday, and while most restaurants, grocery stores, and retail shops will remain open, banks and post offices will be closed.

Veterans Day is celebrated on Nov. 11 — the day the armistice ending World War I was signed — every year, regardless of what day it falls on.

It was officially recognized as a federal holiday in 1938 and became known as Veterans Day in 1954.

When is Veterans Day?

Veterans Day falls on a Monday this year, meaning federal employees will observe the federal holiday that day, and many non-essential government services will be closed.
