Fashion Centre usually closes at 9 p.m. on Saturdays but this Saturday the Pentagon City mall closed at least 2 hours earlier as ACPD responded to fighting.
ARLINGTON, Va. — Police guarded the entrances of Fashion Centre Pentagon City and its Metro station after fights reportedly forced the Arlington County Police Department to close down the Northern Virginia mall.
Fashion Centre usually closes at 9 p.m. on Saturdays but this Saturday the Pentagon City mall closed at least 2 hours earlier as ACPD responded to fighting.
“Police remain on the scene investigating,” ACPD said at around 8:30 p.m. “Mall is closed. Avoid the area.”
A witness posted a video of one of the fights breaking out inside a food court to the social media site Reddit via the username “Prisonmate,” on Saturday.
The video, recorded at 7:09 p.m. appears to show the brawl happening inside a food court with a crowd of onlookers flocking toward the fight.
The user told WUSA9, they were just at the mall to shop and recorded the brawl from the floor above the food court.
“Saw up to four different fights,” the Reddit user told WUSA9. “Security overwhelmed, maybe 100 to 150 middle school to high school teenagers fighting, standing on tables.”
Three youths, described as “juveniles” by officers, were detained by ACPD as officers continued to investigate the fights.
Three “minor injuries” were reported by ACPD on Saturday night. Among those hurt were a mall security guard, a police officer and one of the minors who had been detained by police.
