Thousands of Meta application users across the country reported issues with apps like Instagram and Facebook on Wednesday afternoon. Many users also reported issues with WhatsApp.
“We’re aware that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps,” wrote Meta in a statement to X. “We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.
Outage tracker Downdetector showed big spikes for Instagram with reports peaking at 11 a.m. with over 60,000 outages.

Downdetector is showing a massive outage across Meta app like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp beginning at 11:30 a.m. CT Wednesday.
Instagram outages peaked around 12:15 p.m. with over 60,000 reports. The majority of users (76%) are reporting issues with the app while others are reporting issues with the server connection and website. Outages decreased to 18,000 around 1:30 p.m. but have continued increasing.
Facebook users reported over 100,000 outages around noon. Outages took a sharp decline but like Instagram, have been increasing. Whatsapp users reported the least number of outages, with only 11,000 reports around noon. Reports declined, however, drastically increased again around 1:20 p.m.
The majority of outages were reported in major cities like New York and Los Angeles.
