This afternoon in New York City, Ralph Lauren hosted an intimate fashion show to debut the fall 2025 collection. But just because the presentation was low-profile didn’t mean it wasn’t star-studded: In the front row were A-listers such as Michelle Williams, Naomi Watts, Kacey Musgraves, Ariana DeBose, and Anne Hathaway. The latter star is no stranger to a bold Ralph Lauren look (remember when Hathaway wore the label’s denim gown to the 2023 CFDA Awards?) so it was no surprise that she slipped into another statement design for the occasion. Her latest sartorial serve? Hathaway went all-in on an unexpected pair of trousers.
Call them a fancy take on ripped jeans: Hathaway wore Lauren’s distressed sequin trousers, purposefully shredded and torn at the knees. Now, dazzling sequins are typically reserved for cocktail or black tie, but the actor’s rugged pants—which debuted on the spring 2025 runway back in September—proved that shimmering embellishments can in fact be dressed down.

Still, Hathaway styled the trousers in a polished way, punctuating her ensemble with a classic white tank top and khaki trench coat. Her stiletto sandals and gold jewelry, meanwhile—presumably by Bulgari (she is a face for the brand)—further elevated the look. It is a fashion show, after all: If you are going to wear a ripped jean, you should make them look intentional, and not like you just took a tumble on the sidewalk on the way in.
