By Monday 16 December, the Guardian Editions app will look a little bit different as we change the way we produce it to deliver an experience closer to that of our printed journalism. The current version of the Editions app will no longer be supported after this date. You don’t need to install a new app, simply update your existing app to enjoy the new experience.
Subscribers will have access to PDF editions of the Guardian and Observer each day, with new editions available a few hours earlier than before. Editions can still be downloaded for offline reading, and the pages will mirror the creative design of our UK print editions. We are also offering a larger archive of past editions that will exceed the 30 days currently available. For crossword lovers, our daily, ad-free crosswords will remain playable in-app.
In addition, readers will be able to experience our beautiful print magazines and newspaper layouts in their intended format. With our “article view” feature, readers can click on any newspaper article and open it in an easy-to-read accessible view. This feature will also be available on our magazines and supplements early next year.
To get the new version of Guardian Editions on iOS or Android, simply update the existing app via your mobile or tablet’s app store from 16 December. You don’t need to download a new app. If you use Apple, you may need to update your operating system to ensure you are running iOS 16.0 or later.
If you need any help with the new version of Guardian Editions, please take a minute to read the FAQs in our help centre, where you can find further information and assistance.
We hope you continue to enjoy your experience of the Guardian and our journalism, and we thank you for your ongoing support.
