Passengers were forced to deplane from an aircraft at George Bush Intercontinental Airport Sunday morning after an engine issue during takeoff caused visible smoke and fire to be seen on the right wing.
The incident happened at around 8:35 a.m. Sunday morning on United Airlines Flight 1382. The flight had 104 passengers and five crewmembers and was set to travel from Bush to LaGuardia Airport in New York.
Airport Rescue Firefighters with HFD responded to the scene and assisted in the evacuation.
HFD’s Airport Rescue Firefighters are assisting at @iah after a departing plane reported an issue on the runway. HFD assisted in deboarding the plane. No injuries have been reported at this time.

KPRC 2′s Gage Goulding spoke to Ashlyn Sharp, a passenger on the flight who recorded a clear view of the wing and provided the footage to KPRC 2.
A passenger can be heard saying, “Please, please, get us out of here.”
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released a statement confirming the incident.
During takeoff, United flight 1382 received an indication about one engine and halted the takeoff while still on the runway. Passengers deplaned on the runway via a combination of slides and stairs and were bused to the terminal. There are no reported injuries at this time. We have lined up a different aircraft to take customers to their destination at 12:30 p.m. CT.
A short time later, a public affairs specialist with the FAA provided more clarity on the nature of the incident, referring to it as an “engine issue.”
The crew of United Airlines Flight 1382 safely aborted its takeoff from the George Bush Intercontinental/Houston Airport in Texas due to a reported engine issue around 8:35 a.m. local time on Sunday, Feb. 2. Passengers deplaned on the runway and were bused to the terminal. The Airbus A319 was flying to LaGuardia Airport in New York. The FAA will investigate.
