Starting today, Max (formerly HBO Max) is rolling out an update that consolidates the streaming app’s navigation menus. The change moves all of the subcategories listed horizontally at the top into the left menu where Home, Search, My Stuff, Profiles, and Settings currently live. You can use your mouse to drag the slider on the image comparison below to see the subtle differences between the newly updated app (left) and the old one (right).
That means you can scroll through just one list to jump into any of the app’s settings, profiles, and recommendation pages. Speaking of the latter, Max is introducing a “What’s New” page dedicated to surfacing content that’s coming soon or recently added. That page will also broadcast last-call opportunities to watch anything that might be leaving the streaming service soon.
You’ll also notice a new “Categories” menu item, which Max says will let you browse by genre, themed collections, or specific brands. We’re not seeing the changes on our end yet so we’re not sure how exactly all of this is implemented, but the changes sound straightforward and, hopefully, they’ll prove helpful.
