Just like your 2024 Spotify Wrapped, Tatler Hong Kong looked back at the best songs released this year in the city—will your favourite canto-pop singer or indie musician be in it?

For people born in Hong Kong, raised in Hong Kong or who now call Hong Kong home, 2024 has been a year rich in musical releases. Without many surprises, Canto-pop has dominated the city’s charts, whether it’s with boy band Mirror’s latest releases, The Last Dance’s original movie soundtracks by Terence Lam or Kiri T’s melancholic You Gotta Screw Up At Least Once (至少做一件離譜的事).

But Hong Kong demonstrated in 2024 that its pool of musical talent runs deep and covers a wide range of genres, from experimental jazz to R’n’B and alternative music.

Here, in no particular order, we’ve narrowed down some of what (we think) are the best, most impactful songs produced by Hong Kong artists in 2024, which deserve a place on our playlist in 2025 and beyond.
