Samsung has led the foldable phone market since introducing the Galaxy Fold in 2019, but Google got out first with some clever new software features in its Pixel Fold and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Some of those features are now starting to make their way to Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Swipe to Continue
SammyGuru’s Jeff Springer reports that One UI 7 enables the Swipe to Continue feature, which lets you continue using an app on the cover screen after closing the phone.
To access Swipe to Continue on Z Fold 6, swipe up from the bottom of the cover display before screen lock kicks in. Not all apps are supported, but multitasking is significantly improved for those that are.

Auto-hiding taskbar
Another new addition is the auto-hiding taskbar, revealed by 9to5Google. Introduced by Google in Android 13, the new taskbar can replace Samsung’s always-on, static taskbar and appears only when required.
Activate the auto-hiding taskbar with a half-swipe up from the bottom of the display, as you might on iPad. Choose whether you want the taskbar to disappear when you open an app and then be recalled with a half-slide up, or remain visible and display recent and suggested apps.
When are these features coming to my phone?
These new features are currently exclusive to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, but they will roll out to other Galaxy Z Fold models from April 2025.
