5 minors held for snatching phones from mkts | Noida News

Noida: Five minors were apprehended for allegedly snatching mobile phones from people, mostly women, in crowded markets across NCR.
Additional DCP (Central Noida) Hirdesh Katheriya said 57 phones were seized from their possession. On Tuesday, two of the accused were taken into custody by Phase 2 police while trying to snatch phones at Bhangel vegetable market. Thirty smartphones were recovered from the boys. During interrogation they divulged the names of three other accomplices who were then taken into custody, police said.
“The suspects typically worked in groups and would hand over the stolen mobile phones to each other to avoid getting caught. They were living in Noida on fake documents. They kept changing locations to avoid getting caught,” Katheriya said.
A case was registered under BNS sections 317(4) and (5) (receiving stolen property).
