2025 challenges in the U.S. House

AUSTIN, Texas —  Republicans will hold a 220-215 majority over Democrats in the U.S. House. However, that majority is even slimmer as President-elect Donald Trump continues to nominate House members to Cabinet positions.

Despite the slim majority, Republicans will have full control of Congress and the White House beginning in 2025.

The GOP will face challenges with narrow margins in both chambers, which could complicate efforts to pass key proposals.

Democrats, led by Hakeem Jeffries in the House, will oppose Trump’s policies.

For an in-depth look at the challenges faced by both parties, Capital Tonight spoke with former Texas state Rep. Mark Strama and former Speaker of the Texas House Dennis Bonnen.
