NEW YORK/TAIPEI — The U.S. added 140 companies including Chinese semiconductor toolmaking and software firms to a trade restriction list on Monday in one of the biggest efforts to curtail Chinese advances in the high-tech sector.
The targets include Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. and Huawei-linked companies. China’s top chipmaking equipment firms, including Beijing Naura, ACM Research and Piotech, also were added to the list.
