Services disrupted on Hong Kong’s East Rail line due to technical fault

A technical fault has caused services to be interrupted on Hong Kong’s East Rail line, adding an extra 10 to 15 minutes to journey times.

The MTR Corporation announced the technical problem on an engineer’s train near Fo Tan station at around 5am on Sunday. Trains were required to run on a single track between Sha Tin and Fo Tan stations.

At around 8am, the rail giant said the train was located on the northbound track between the two stations. The MTR Corp added that the incident had to be addressed before the train could be removed from the site.

Trains are running every 10 minutes between Admiralty and Lo Wu stations, while those between Admiralty and Tai Wai are arriving every five minutes.

Passengers for Lok Ma Chau station must change at Sheung Shui.

Services are running every 10 minutes between Tai Po Market and Lok Ma Chau stations.
