The Financial Times has appointed Elizabeth Paton as fashion editor.
She will join the FT in August, based in London. Paton succeeds Lauren Indvik who is the newly appointed deputy editor of the FT’s House & Home.
Paton will oversee the FT’s coverage of fashion and style, and will write the weekly newsletter “Fashion Matters.” She will also curate the Business of Luxury Summit, the FT’s annual event that gathers some of the most influential leaders in global luxury and fashion.
Paton joins the FT from the New York Times, where she has been the international style correspondent since 2015. She began her career at the Sunday Times in London, and previously worked in the FT’s New York bureau as a corporate reporter focused on luxury and retail.
Paton said: “I am thrilled to be returning to the Financial Times as fashion editor, in what is a dream role for me at one of the most respected news organisations in the world. I look forward to giving the global fashion and luxury industry scrutiny and attention with coverage that gets to the heart of what is happening and why it matters for the FT audience.”
