China Consumption Unexpectedly Slows as Stimulus Effects Fade

China’s retail sales growth unexpectedly weakened in November, highlighting the urgency for Beijing to further encourage residents to spend.

Retail sales rose 3% from a year ago, the National Bureau of Statistics said Monday. That was the slowest pace in three months and significantly undershot forecasts of 5% growth by economists surveyed by Bloomberg.
