Giorgio Armani, who passed away at the age of 91 on Thursday, played a significant role in shaping celebrity style on the red carpet. Over decades, Armani built working relationships with Hollywood stars and musicians who regularly chose his designs for events, performances and personal milestones.
Julia Roberts wore his designs at multiple Academy Awards, forever linking her name to his refined silhouettes. George Clooney became the face of sophisticated masculinity in his signature Armani tuxedos, while Richard Gere immortalized the unstructured Armani suit in “American Gigolo.” The designer also collaborated with stars such as Lee Radziwill, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Cate Blanchett, Jodie Foster, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway and Michelle Pfeiffer, and notably designed the wedding dresses of Katie Holmes and Princess Charlene of Monaco.
